Do Ritual Monsters need to be properly Ritual Summoned before being revived from the Graveyard?!
A Ritual Monster is in the Graveyard and a revival effect is used.
Yes. Like other Special Summon monsters, Ritual Monsters must be properly Summoned first to be revived from the Graveyard.
Can a card that just says "Special Summon a monster from the hand" be used to Summon Relinquished?!
A player wants to Special Summon Relinquished from the hand using a non-ritual effect.
No. Ritual Monsters are semi-nomi and must be Ritual Summoned unless an effect explicitly says it can Summon a Ritual Monster or ignores Summoning conditions.

Rulings

edisonformat.net ●If the Ritual Monster Special Summoned by “Ritual Foregone” is flipped face-down or is removed from play (even temporarily), the effects of “Ritual Foregone” are not applied. So the monster can attack this turn, and is not destroyed at the end of this turn. ●Even if “Non-Spellcasting Area” is active, a Ritual Monster that is not an Effect Monster (such as “Hungry Burger”) will still be affected by the restrictions on “Ritual Foregone”. So it still can't attack and it is still destroyed at the end of this turn. ●Even though only 1 copy of this card can be activated each turn, you can chain “Serial Spell” to it to duplicate the effect. ●If “Destiny Hero – Diamond Dude” uses its effect and reveals “Ritual Foregone”, you can still activate another “Ritual Foregone” that same turn. edisonformat.com No edisonformat.com ruling available.
